I have been trained in the Technology of Participation (ToP) methodology by the Institute of Cultural Affairs in the U.S. A. I have seen these methods work in all kinds of settings–government, nonprofits, and for-profits. These methods
- recognize and honor contributions of all
- let a group deal with more data in less time
- pool individual contributions into larger more informative patterns
- welcome diversity while minimizing polarization and conflict
Workshops Offered
Focused Conversation
Creates an opportunity for clear dialogue and reflection; probes beneath the surface to the depth of a topic; and encourages a diversity of perspectives. Reveals the existing level of consensus within the group. (45 minutes)
Consensus Workshop
This workshop engages the participation of each group member, focuses the group’s consensus, builds an effective team partnership, and helps facilitate consensus in large groups. (45 minutes to two hours)
Action Planning
Used for short-term (2-6 months) projects that already have a basic level of agreement among participants, such as events. As a group, you’ll visualize the completed task, maximize involvement, create clear forms of accountability, and develop an action timeline. (2.5 to 4.5 hours)
Strategic Planning
This workshop results in a strategic plan, and is way more interesting than writing in committee. You’ll come away with a flexible plan with review built in. (4 sessions of 3 hours)
